What This Tool Does
The MTAA Storm Intelligence platform maps every declared disaster, severe weather event, and catastrophic loss zone in the United States — then converts the precise impact area directly into Facebook geo-targeting parameters. We do not target cities. We do not target counties. We target the exact damage footprint down to a 1-mile radius.
While other agencies run broad state-level targeting, MTAA runs ads to homeowners inside the precise impact zone of a specific event. The result is a campaign audience that is pre-qualified by geography before a single dollar is spent on creative testing.
Data Sources
- NASA FIRMS (Fire Information for Resource Management System) — Satellite-detected active fire and wildfire perimeter data, updated every 12 hours from MODIS and VIIRS sensors.
- NASA NEXRAD Integration — Radar-based hail detection and storm track data from the national radar network.
- FEMA Disaster Declarations — All federally declared disasters by county and zip code, updated in real time from the FEMA OpenAPI.
- NOAA Storm Events Database — Comprehensive record of all significant U.S. weather events including hail size, wind speed, property damage estimates, and fatalities.
- NWS Storm Data — National Weather Service severe weather reports and post-event damage assessments.
- NAIC Carrier Complaint Data — State insurance complaint ratios by carrier, overlaid on event zones to identify bad faith targeting opportunities.
What the Map Shows
The platform renders an interactive map with event overlays across four categories: hail (size threshold and impact radius), wildfire (NASA satellite perimeter), tornado (track and width), and flood (FEMA flood zone boundary). Each event is timestamped and ranked by campaign viability based on property value density, homeownership rate, and carrier complaint history in the affected area.
"We don't target cities. We target the exact damage footprint. Every dollar goes to the person who actually experienced the loss."
— MTAA Campaign PhilosophyWhat the Export Produces
Each event generates a campaign-ready output package: a Facebook geo-targeting coordinate set with 1-mile radius parameters, a carrier intelligence brief identifying the dominant homeowners insurers in the affected area and their complaint history, and a creative brief with event-specific qualifying language and identity-matched demographic recommendations.
- Facebook geo-targeting parameters — coordinate + radius, ready for Ads Manager
- Carrier complaint profile — NAIC complaint ratios by carrier for the affected market
- Property value density overlay — average home value and homeownership rate by census tract
- Creative brief — event-specific qualifying language and audience callout recommendations
- Timeline recommendation — optimal campaign launch window based on claims filing patterns
Campaign Use Cases
Hail / Property Damage
Target homeowners in the exact hail impact zone within 72 hours of an event. Pair with carrier complaint data to identify the most litigation-prone insurer in the market.
Wildfire
NASA satellite perimeters define the exact burn area and interface zone. Target structure loss and smoke damage claims with precise geographic creative.
Contractor Fraud
Storm events generate contractor fraud waves. Post-event targeting combined with fraud-specific creative captures claimants before the statute clock runs.
Bad Faith Insurance
NAIC carrier complaint ratios identify which insurers have the worst claim denial patterns in affected markets — enabling targeted bad faith campaign launches.
The Storm Intelligence platform is available exclusively to plaintiff law firms working with MTAA on active campaigns. It is not a subscription product.
